I an really struggling to review The Maiden and I'm not sure why.
This was a slow starter. I wasn't too fussed about Christian but I was intrigued to see why she was in prison. Then the introduction of the second woman made things a lot more interesting.
I'm just not sure how I feel about the story. I know this is based on true events but I feel it could ha e been twisted a bit more and maybe focus on the women coming together to ruin this guy who was using them all. It was just a bit disappointing.

Geïnspireerd door een daadwerkelijk gebeurd verhaal, maar volledig gefictionaliseerd. Het boek volgt Christian Nimmo die op de allereerste pagina veroordeeld wordt voor de moord op haar oom (en minnaar). Het boek volgt Nimmo en een (fictieve) sekswerker, en bedenkt een verhaal hoe zoiets gebeurd zou kunnen zijn. En dat doet het boek best wel goed. De twee hoofdpersonen zijn mooi beschreven, en ondanks de veroordeling in de allereerste zin van het boek zit er zelfs een beetje een whodunnit in. Ook gewoon een goed geschreven boek.
