This read almost like a tamer version of Coraline, but it was unique in its own way. Filled with humor and imagination. I can't wait for more books in this series to be written so I can find out what Olive and the cats do next.
I loved book talking this to 3rd and 4th graders, but I think kids even in middle school would enjoy this book.

Wonderful book! Used this as a read-aloud for my 4th graders, and they complained loudly every time I stopped so they could check out books! Very suspenseful.

I was hooked from the first sentence of The Shadows! While her parents are occupied with their jobs, Olive explores their new house and discovers something very odd. Before she knows it, Olive is inside a painting in a whole other world. She has to face something sinister to help the inhabitants of this new world. If you like fantasy books with a touch of spookiness, you'll love The Shadows!

I really like this book because of how unpredictable it is which is why it’s so addictive to read. The chapters just fly by.
