Really enjoyed the book, but would have loved more Sherlock as he was away for most of it! Never a bad Sherlock Holmes mystery!

In my opinion, all of Arthur Conan Doyle work is 5 stars, so it was no surprise when I re-read the entire Sherlock Holmes collection that I loved it so much. This author just has a way of letting you in the path of thought that the main characters have, while being utterly refreshing with the different "cases" motifs and scenarios. It's a mixture of suspense and mystery that gets you on the edge of the chair and doesn't let you put the book down until you finish.

I find truly fascinating that each book can be a stand-alone but they also clearly follow a story line and connect to each other subtly.

For me, these atemporal masterpieces are definitely the epitome of detective novels!

This is the first Sherlock Holmes book I've read and it's so beautifully written.
I would call it a Victorian horror with pretty plot twists.
Sherlock is pretty much sophisticated character as I had expected, and will be my all-time favourite detective.
The most fascinating parts of the books were the scenes that took place at night in Dartmoor and Grimpen Mire also it's very suspenseful till end ..
The whole setting was amazing and nocturnal.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's writing style is so splendid that I'm excited to read next books of him.

Starts slow, definitely builds up as it goes on. As you'd expect, a lot of scene setting before the culmination of events.
