When we allow ourselves to explore, we discover destinations that were never on our map.”

This just didn't work for me. The plot sounded interesting, but the story just didn't end up being very interesting. Things were a bit repetitive, and without being able to see the glyphs and the puzzles they were up against, I just wasn't feeling it. The big reveal that
SpoilerMink and Charlotte are the same person
I just couldn't care less. I thought the ending was also pretty pointless.
Spoiler If these aliens (or humans?) have all this technology, why did they spend so much time and energy laying a trap to trick people into bringing them to Earth instead of just GOING to Earth? Maybe that's answered in the sequels, but it just seems stupid.

I really wanted to like this one. A LOT. I really enjoyed books from both authors, both co-written and separately. But this suffered from an interesting premise and bland execution, instalove, and one of my least favorite things: repetitive scenes that serve no purpose except to fill pages. Check out my full review at Forever Young Adult.

I bought this book on a whim, and am so glad that I did. I've read plenty of dark, grim stories this year, so this was exactly what I needed. It's fun, exciting, packed with adventure and two of the most charismatic leads in the genre.

There can never be too many adventure books, and the authors wasted no time in drawing readers into the action. This leads into a wild story filled with betrayal, deception, and death-defying traps. This growing tension meant I was never bored, and was eager to get to the next page.

While I loved the action and discovery and twists the story took, the highlight were the characters. I adore them. Both are unique and different from one another, yet they compliment each other so well. Though I suppose an argument could be made that the romance between Amelia and Jules was rushed, I personally found them too endearing to nitpick it that much. Amelia is rugged, snarky, and prone to see the danger in situations. Jules is an intellect, romantic, and passionate. I adore the intelligence they both have, and how they work out secrets early along rather than letting them drag out.

Honestly, I had so much fun reading this book that I never want it to end! I can't wait for the sequel!

Really good, I liked everything about this. I liked the balance between distrust and trust for these two. And now everything else I want to discuss has to do with the cliffhanger so I'll just stop here! But it's an enjoyable YA archaeological SF!

Not impressed, but since I haven't really finished reading a lot of it, I am going to refrain to rate. It started quite interesting, but I am already bored to hear these character talk over a can of beans and badassery. I am glad I didn't buy it. A lot of hype for nada.

A nerve-racking cliffhanger that left me eagerly waiting for the second half of this.

Another enjoyable book by Kauffman & Spooner. This took me much longer to read than I usually would and I think it lost momentum because of this. I think I will have to re-read it at a later date but I am happy to think it was me, not the book that caused me to struggle through.
