THAT CLIFFHANGER WAS NOT FAIR AND I AM IN NEED OF BOOK TWO YESTERDAY THANK YOU
I was so pleasantly surprised by this! I thought this was going to be fun but not amazing, and I really need to stop assuming this about books! I assumed the same about Warcross and I ended up loving that too - you'd have thought I would have learned my lesson by now. Actually, if you liked Warcross, you'll probably like this - despite being slightly different genres, they have a similar vibe and writing style. And I enjoyed them both so much! This was fun, but it wasn't forgettable. I need the sequel now!

- I loved the characters! Both of them were really fun to read about- and different too. I don't know how this was cowritten, but I think one author wrote one POV, and one wrote the other. I think it would be interesting to know who wrote which, but it was so seamlessly done, and I didn't feel like I was reading two different books awkwardly smooshed together. I don't really have a favourite character. I really loved Jules - he's just so obsessed with the rune/glyph things and is just adorable. And Mia is super smart and has a lot of common sense, and the two work so well together as a pair. Basically my mental image of the two of them is Jules eagerly running into a cave to look a cool scientific stuff and Mia pulling him out the way just as a spike impales the spot he was in.
- I really loved the whole concept. I was a little sceptical at first when I picked this up. I have never seen Indianna Jones, and it didn't really sound like my sort of thing. But reading about it was insanely fun and interesting and every little detail held my attention. I was engrossed in every page, and I don't think there was a dull moment in here. It was action packed from start to finish, and even threw in a couple of awesome twits towards the end, which shocked me and made me desperate for the next book. This was fast paced and unpredictable and interesting, and it was just what I was looking for when I read it. There were caves and tasks and murdering puzzles and it was like watching a movie play out in front of you.
- I normally despise first person present tense narrative, but here I actually kind of like it. Okay, it wasn't something I would rave about, or mention as one of the amazing parts of this book, but I commend any author who can write in this style in a non-cringe worthy way. I do think it worked well with the story itself too. I mentioned it before, but I was also super impressed by how well Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner's writing goes together. You can hardly see where one ends and the other begins. If you didn't know this was written by two authors, I don't think you could tell.
This was such a surprise and I loved it! I seriously recommend this one and I really really REALLY want to read Undying. The book ended on such a cliffhanger and its KILLING ME. Also - this cover is really nice? Like, its not pretty in the way I normally find covers pretty, but I am obsessed with it! I really like the spine! But if you think this sounds interesting, PLEASE READ IT. This book needs more love because it was really good. And now I really want to go and read these authors' other series that they wrote together. AHH THIS WAS AWESOME.

This started slow at first but it picked up at some point and I found myself enjoying it. Definitely picking up the next book.
This one was fun. Interesting sci-fi meets Indiana Jones vibe. I found it predictable at times, but the action moved fast enough that I didn't care as much.
Space explorer Indiana Jones stuff. Surprisingly not my cup of tea!
As I stare down at this ship, my amazement starts to give way to something darker. I feel like the huge, beautiful creature I've just met has bared its teeth, and it turns out it's a carnivore.
Ahh, this was... not good. I nearly DNF'd it two or three times but forced myself to press on in hope that it would get better and it just... didn't.
Mia is a scavenger. Jules is an academic researcher. They are thrown together on a planet called Gaia, home of an ancient alien race called the Undying. Mia wants to pillage the temples to bring home enough tech to save her sister from indentured slavery. Jules wants to find the answer to long sought after puzzles to prove his father right. But as they explore Gaia's temples, they come to find that the Undying might not be all they appeared to be.
This book is pitched as "Indiana Jones in Space", which is all well and good, except that our two authors Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner, while fabulous and wonderful ladies, are primarily YA romance writers. The romance between Mia and Jules was the main focus of this novel, which again, is all well and good... except that that means the action, the suspense, the actual "Indiana Jones in Space-ness" of the book was an afterthought and it shows. The actions scenes are sort of boring, with no hype or anything to hold my interest, and are quickly raced through and tossed aside so that Mia and Jules can think about how attracted they are to each other some more.
Seriously, it's like, page ten. They meet, they're instantly smitten, and immediately any action takes a backseat to making sure that Jules and Mia spend an appropriate amount of time cuddling next to fires and thinking about each other's aesthetic attractiveness.
This might have been alright if we hadn't flip flopped between Jules and Mia's viewpoints, but as it were, we are treated to the "omg i love them" thoughts in stereo, which quickly becomes repetitive and dull. Not even the "twist" at the end was enough to keep my attention. A good idea, but unfortunately not executed well. Maybe it'll go better if the series is eventually adapted into a film.

Earth is on the brink of fall in every aspect.
16-year-old Mia Radcliffe, takes up a scavenger job up in a planet called "Gaia", only to free her illegal sister from indentured servitude. On the other hand Jules Addison, a young, black English archaeologist, wants to redeem his Father, famous scientist who decoded the Undying transmission years ago and then suddenly denied his own work. Due to some unexpected situations, Jules and Amelia join together and learn to trust, care and solve the Undying riddles placed in the Gaia Temple.
Mehercule,what a book!!
The book ends in a cliffhanger and believe me, it's worth it.Very fulfilling Sci-Fi novel without a dull moment in it.
Onward, If you dare
Happy Reading!!!
