Tobias has a really bad time while the crew work to help free a couple of hork bajir or whatever they're called.
Not the most exciting of the tales, but still an important story.

The Solace: Another great read in the Animorphs series. Each character has become my bestie at this point - I love and hate them all at points, but Tobias, the narrator of The Change, is my ride-or-die favorite. I love reading from his perspective, and this one is emotional - it had me crying by the end. The Change is also fast-paced and packed with new characters, challenges, consequences, and moral dilemmas that impact the entire series. I recommend reading the series in release order (this one falls just after the Andelite Chronicles, which adds a whole other dimension of emotion and character development.
The Dread: As a young adult book written in the early 90s, the writing feels a bit aged, especially when reading about pop culture or technology, which can sometimes pull you out of the other Sci-Fi elements of the story.
Overall, The Change is on my reread list - to capture all the details and weight, to reset myself after I've read the entire series, and because it's a beautiful story. This book is one of my favorites, and I recommend it to everyone.
