Lo definiría como un mix entre after, crepúsculo y el fanfic de Justin Bieber que se hizo viral hace mil años (Danger). No sé si es que no estoy hecha ya para los libros de adolescentes o que la protagonista es muuuuuy tonta pero ha habido momentos que he tenido que cerrar el libro de la vergüenza ajena que sentía. Super predecible y repleta de tópicos.
¿Engancha? Bueno, si no eres muy exigente la trama puede causarte curiosidad, al fin y al cabo me lo he leído en dos días, por lo tanto, algo me ha tenido que enganchar. También es verdad que me he saltado párrafos completos y no me he perdido nada en la historia.
Read at your own risk, pero te animo a que vayas sin expectativas.

This book is amazing! I absolutely loved it! I have heard mixed reviews about it, some loving it whilst others hate it but I personally loved it and am mad at myswlf for not buying the second book at the same time. This is probably best for people who like The Vampire Diaries and Twilight but also just if you like paranormal/supernatural stuff, this is for you!

Let me preface by saying I liked this book. I even recommend it to people who ask for book recs! Nothing is wrong with it at all- I only rated it 4 stars because I've read better books, plain and simple as that.

I loved this cringy YA urban fantasy vampire book, I fear.
I did not think I'd ever pick up this series. My cousin spoiled the first book for me a few years ago and I was like "Oh god, that sounds terrible." Since there are six books in the entire series that are roughly 500 pages each, I thought picking these books up would be a waste of my time and I'd hate them anyways. I don't know why I'd think that because I love trashy YA urban fantasy.
Essentially, the cringiest parts for me were the word mate, Grace constantly saying "Ohmigodohmigodohmigod", and the chapter titles. I am a lover of chapter titles but the titles in this book were a hate crime.
Grace is leaving San Diego after her parents' death. Her closest family is her Uncle Finn and his daughter Macy all the way in Alaska, so now Grace is stuck at the prestigious, elite, and secretive Katmere Academy. When she gets there danger is immediately near and it doesn't help that the hottest and most untouchable boy in school, Jaxon Vega has his sights set on her. What Grace doesn't know is that Katmere is for things that go bump in the night and Jaxon may be the scariest of them all.
YEAH, I ATE THIS UP. I love a good boarding school book and when a vampire is in the mix I cannot help myself. I really enjoyed this book even though it was definitely a lot longer than it should have been. A good 100 pages could have been cut if we really tried. Nonetheless, I still had a blast and was constantly turning the pages to figure out what was happening.
I was absolutely ticked off by the way this ended. Normally, cliffhangers don't bother me, but this one bothered me solely because I had 50+ pages left in this book and I thought it was for this story, not extra bonus content included in the exclusive edition. That is my bad, but I thought I had more time!
Now, I don't think I'd actually recommend this book. It's different recommending a campy 2015 YA urban fantasy romance series than one that was published in 2020. I don't think this is technically a good book, but it is a good book to me! I am so excited to pick up the second book and I hope to get to that soon, but knowing me it'll be a few months until I pick it up since I have big book plans for June!
