What’s in a name? What warrants power, is power worth the price? A Wild Sheep Chase creates a mythic atmosphere that implores its reader to ask questions we usually don’t. Murakami is the modern mythmaker, his stories are complex; while this one is no different, it seems to make more sense than the others I’ve read. Expect more Murakami this year

I love Murakami's style of writing even though, frankly, a lot of what he writes, or perhaps more correctly, the meanings behind what he writes go right over my head. A Wild Sheep Chase is no exception. It's a thoroughly good read, humourous in parts, thoroughly confusing in others, full of symbolism, a bit like reading someone's dream journal at times. He's a great writer though and I really enjoyed this book - despite the confusion!

I don't even know if I have thoughts. I guess I feel sort of sheepless myself now. And I fear I have more questions than answers. This was my first read by Murakami and it's just made me want to consume more. I'll readily admit I couldn't put it down. I weirdly feel such a profound loss at the end of this.
Now about my questions, the Boss and the Rat seemed to have died at the same time, how was it that the Sheep was still keeping the Boss alive while he was inside the Rat. why the explosion. I can only assume some part of the Sheep or his influence was in the Assistant right. And the Rat wanted to end it all. That's why he had our main guy blow the building. Is there no remnants of the Sheep in anyone else, or in our main guy. Was he never "sheeped." And was it the Sheeps' influence that made the Girlfriend special, because she was special in sort of the same way that the Assistant was; in that they just inexplicably knew things. Where do I go from here.
