This book is fun. It’s not groundbreaking, original or anything but it’s certainly an enjoyable read. I see the complaints about Mac and I agree but I was interested enough in the world and the plot that I’m compelled to continue. Plus the first book in urban fantasy books are usually the weakest. This book involves Mac searching for her missing sister and learning her new power. Jericho is pretty meh, so hopefully he gets better.

Kindle - just couldn’t get into it, didn’t care for the characters or the storyline.

Well after Sam shoved this in my face a few months ago, I finally got around to reading it and it was well worth the shove!

I had a hard time putting this down. I loved the writting and the little bits that were of Mac talking to us from the future or sassing us about her reasonings.

I will admit that this book was quite an interesting one as at times it felt like not much had happened and I had read about half way but at the same time I didn't feel like it was a slow read at all! Still preplexed by this.

I loved that this was set in Dublin. I haven't read anything set there before. It was also a nice "light" fantasy read. I didn't have to struggle through learning an entire new world just the parts about the caste system so I didn't feel overwhelmed at all!

Definitely going to read the next one... Hey Sam ;p

I gave this book 5 stars because (1) Karen Marie-Moning is an excellent writer and (2) it’s a really cool idea. Book 1 is not really a romance but the series is. I did not care for the main character at first but she evolves. Other characters evolve too. The series is worthwhile.

3.5, bumped up to 4 stars for pure entertainment.
Reading this threw me right back to 2013, when I first read the Mortal Instruments series and got into reading fantasy/paranormal.
Just like that series, I know that it’s flawed, but really can’t bother to point out the flaws because I just had too much of a good time reading it.

It’s oh so addicting, the kind where you can’t turn the pages fast enough. That in itself is a little ironic because very little happens in this book but boy, when the action was on, it was on.

I applaud Moning for creating a unique fantasy world full of opportunies and good mythology. Fairies have never been very popular, but these are seriously creepy. I can’t wait to see what more creatures show up in the series.
I was so immersed in this world that I didn’t notice how much I enjoyed until I read the last page and nearly reached for the sequel right away.

I had so much fun reading this and was extremely invested in the world and characters. The plot leaves a lot to be desired and this first installment is more of an introduction to the series, But I can see the story picking up in the sequels. Luckily our snarky MC lightened up the slower parts of the book.
Mac can be frustrating sometimes, but she felt real and not like other UF heroines who are confident right from the start. She's clumsy, a little awkward and stubborn. Overall I really liked her.
This might be the first time I actually crave more romance in a paranormal book. Mac and Barrons's banter was silly and hilarious, and I secretly hoped for their relationship to develop more.

Darkfever is an old formula with a new twist. It’s fun, has a great balance between the light with the witty humor, and the dark magic.
I already bought the second and third book, because this sounds like the perfect series to marathon!
