Definitely enjoyed this book. It did get slightly confusing at points with the alternating perspectives and timeframes, but overall, I thought it was a great read! Don't think the cover design did it justice, as it didn't make me feel like it was a historical mystery, but don't judge a book by its cover!
I enjoyed this story, I love the way that Morton always plays with time and characters. This novel was lovely and heartbreaking and she did a great job with it.
I found this book to be confusing. So many characters did not resonate with me and I had difficulty positioning them in the story. The ending did tie up some loose ends, but was still a bit trite in my opinion. I feel this book would have benefited by having it cut by a third. Not my favourite book and I usually enjoy Kate’s books
Could hardly get through the first chapter. The author was trying way too hard to be verbose.
It’s unfortunate because the description drew me in but I have zero interest in trudging through and finishing the book.

I really wanted that to have a happy ending but alas, I have been crushed and my heart is heavy.
I didn’t love how long the preamble took to get to the ending, I do realize that part of the draw is the overlapping lives in the story, though. Without telling it from the future, the story would have felt a bit less tragic in its unfolding.

I really enjoy all of Kate Morton's books, and I also really liked this one - BUT - with so many characters, narrators, and time frames in this book, I started to loose track and had trouble then making all the connections at the end. The Audible version's reader is great by the way - but I also think I got confused on this one because I was listening rather than reading - I would have liked to have flipped back and forth a bit I think...
Lush and descriptive, this would be a great movie but honestly too many character shifts for me to keep up with. Took me four times checking it out from the library to finish.
Love love love. Kate Morton is a story wizard, and I just want to live in her mind. I just loved this book.
