Too many characters, hard to take it all in.

This book started out well and just got steadily worse. I normally really like Kate Morton’s books but this one just didn’t do it for me. There were far too many characters, it jumped about all over the place far too much and I was getting close to throwing the book across the room if she wrote “Lily Millington” one more time! This was disappointing, it felt like she had tried too hard to write a Lucinda Riley style novel, and failed.

A wonderfully written, poignant story! Birdie's tale is seamlessly intertwined with four other lives over generations.

This is my first Kate Morton book, and I've fallen in love.

Her writing is exquisite and the story she weaves is mesmerizing. I struggled between the inability to set the book down, and the need to stop and slow the story lest it end too soon. While reading, I felt at home. Now that it's over, I feel that keen sense of loss that comes at the end of every truly great book.

"People value shiny stones and lucky charms, but they forget that the most powerful talismans of all are the stories that we tell to ourselves and to others."

Thank you Kate Morton, and I can't wait to read more from you.

4*. I enjoyed it, but there was some drag in the middle. I liked how the multiple storylines converged at the end, and definitely will recommend it to other readers.

It sounded like a good story and parts were good but I did not even care enough about the characters to find out the ending to the mystery.

inte vad jag förväntade mig. Vet inte varför jag inte gillade, den är välskriven. Kanske lite många olika personers livsöden inklämda?
