while i loved reading a spy thriller (page turners, so good!) this one was heavy on the YA aspect. still enjoyable! i won’t read more in the series but will absolutely recommend them for a younger crowd

I recently watched the new IMDb series of Alex Rider and fell in love. I knew I had to start the series to see where our fourteen-year-old protagonist starts. It has the many near-death experiences that only come from fun adventure, spy books. Overall, though, the book was rushed (only 230 pages!) and Alex becomes super-spy in a matter of pages. I'm looking forward to later books in which his amazing spy abilities might actually fit the timeline for how long he's been on the job.

introductory book to my favourite kid spy!! sets out his character fairly well, i think i wanted to know more about him though, and pulls some good threads loose here that the later books follow

remains such an enjoyable read - 24 years later at that!! what a talent

I'm finally reading one of the most popular books of all the middle school boys I've encountered at work. I definitely understand the 5 star reviews by the target audience. However, as a 39-year-old woman, my rating is a 3/5. It is a good book, and side note: the author is the writer for TV's "Foyle's War". Definitely will be recommending the series to my nephews, though I'll probably be content with just book one.
