This book is underrated! A satisfying end to the Love by Numbers trilogy.
I enjoyed this series, but the books seem incredibly similar. I can basically plot out each one based on the ones before it. I'm going to try another series by this author to see if that's just the case with this series or if its the same with all of them. Basically, if you read the first one in this series you've pretty much read all three. There's no reinvention of the wheel with each installment- it's pretty much a formula. That being said, it was a fun formula.
This love story and these characters would never work in real life, but this got me HOOKED. The angst felt real, and I really had to convince myself to go to sleep instead of staying up and reading all night.
I understand people's criticism of this book because the MMC really is terrible, the "passion challenge" was nonsensical, and the heroine was cringe-worthy until like the 95% mark. But I still enjoyed it, so whatever. 4 stars for the vibes.

I keep loving her more and more :)

El peor de los tres, sin duda.
Que protagonistas tan odiosos y qué pareja más horrible forman, y la historia, aburrida y repetitiva...
Una decepción.

Yes! I finally read Juliana's story!
Juliana appears in the first book of this series as the unfortunate fire cracker of a woman whose life is upended when her father passes away. Overnight she learns that she has two brothers, that they are England aristocrats, and that it was her mothers wish that she go live with them should anything happen to her father. She goes unwillingly but decides to stay because of the warmth of her new family and to also give English society the middle finger.
Juliana is not a polished, perfect, English rose. She doesn't understand the customs and often flaunts the rules. She is a walking scandal. And, unfortunately, she's interested in the Duke of Disdain. At first she wants to ruffle his feathers a bit, then she wants to crack his cold facade and get under his skin. So, she decides to place a bet on what is more important -passion or propriety.
I loved Juliana's story because beneath Juliana's fire was a woman who wanted to be accepted and loved. She wanted to break the legacy of scandal she came from but not by bending to the will of society. At first I didn't understand her pull towards Simon. They were like oil and water. But I think that was the point. 😉
As a daughter who also has a complicated history with my own mother. Juliana's story often hit home and made me cry because I understand what it's like to be abandoned. Our circumstances were very different but I found a part of me in Juliana.
