A sweet little children’s book! Only took me so long because I was listening through Spotify and ran out of my monthly listening hours

Magical book that I can't believe I didn't read as a child.

I’ve never been a huge fan of the movie The Wizard of Oz, though I watched it many times as a child. Until now, however, I had never read the book. It was fun to finally explore the source material behind the film.

I found the book to be both lighter in tone and, at the same time, more complex than the movie. The various places the group visits and the quest-like challenges they face along the way are engaging and imaginative. I can definitely see why it continues to appeal to children.

I never enjoyed the Wizard Of OZ in the first place but thought I would give this book a go. It was a short read and I was in a hospital waiting room with plenty of spare time. I just couldn't get into it. Too much filler. The book should have ended 5 chapters before it ever did. Not a great read.

I cannot express how profoundly annoying I found Anne Hathaway trying to do different voices for each character was. Thankfully, I could get on with the accents she gave the main characters, but whichever character it was that she gave a valley girl accent to made me close to giving up the book.
