Okay I will admit, I'm coming from the high of reading this book, but it really is a great book. As this series progresses Pierce Brown keeps up his fast-paced style full of surprises and plot twists, but as the series continues he also increasingly improves on character work. Relationships have become even more fleshed out and meaningful. Consequently, the impact of loss and conflict increases as well as is the the tension of the moments that everything seems to fall apart.

Pierce Brown keeps you on your toes and shows that it is about the goal AND about the friends we made along the way.

Oh also, awesome space battles, razor (sword) fights, clever deceptions and big explosions. It's great!

Overall disappointment. Eye-rolling banter, mind-numbing descriptions, many murdery and barbaric combat scenes that are too busy to even care about following.
The only positive thing I can say is: Perhaps the movie will be better?

Well this book tore me apart ripped my heart out, put it back together just to rip it out again.
Pierce Brown finished this trilogy strong, I had to put it down as I was too scared to keep reading and what might happen next.
My heart is still a little shattered but I am eager to continue along the journey.
