Re-read 13th January 2019-
Upon a re-read this is still brilliant, and I’m glad I did re-read before moving on to the other volumes, because there were so many fantastic details I’d forgotten!
adventurous funny tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Diverse cast of characters: Yes

Suck my hemorrhoids

3.5 stars overall. The story is fun, but it turns out I prefer fluffy/wholesome fantasy and a little more realism with action/horror stories. The more you know

LOVED IT. All I have to say. :)

Re-read 2021:
I still love this! Can't wait to read the next volume when that gets to me.

2020:
I wasn't sure if I would like this at first. However, after a little while I so fell in love!
fast-paced

This series was recommended by a friend—and wow, I'm glad he did. What an interesting universe! Lots of fantastical ideas intertwined with the harsh realities of relationships, family, moral dilemmas, war, sex, etc...

The dialogue is a great mix of wit and sarcasm.

The art style manages to feel modern and sterile but in a grungy/emotional way.

I look forward to reading volume 2.

This is so good! Tore through six volumes and two issues, need more.

I've been meaning to read this series for years, and after discovering that my library has all volumes online I thought to finally start. I enjoyed the general storyline and the artwork especially however my enjoyment was hampered by the use of ableist slurs (use of the r word) and pervasive fatphobia, which I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned in other reviews.
