I LOVED THIS! It was so fun and amazing. The art was fantastic too! I can't wait to pick up the next three.
i really just liked the cover of this so i wasn’t sure what to expect but i think it surpassed any expectations i could’ve had. i love the occasional narration from the child’s perspective. the creativity when it comes to the characters and world-building is addictive. the art is fantastic and reading this was nothing but a good time. i’m starting the second volume immediately!
My first graphic novel, so I had no idea what to expect. I liked it, but it was also really weird at the same time? I don’t know what to think about this.
It's been a long time since I've read any sort of graphic novel, but I needed to read one for a challenge and picked this up at random. I wasn't sure how I was going to like it reading it on a Kindle, but it actually wasn't that bad.
The story itself was interesting, though it feels like it sort of takes you into the middle of the story and you're playing catch up right away. Still it caught my curiosity and as it leaves off in the middle of the story of these two enemies who fell in love and are doing everything they can to save their newborn daughter, I might just have to check out the next book in the series. These read fast and I am curious to see what happens next to this family as they've escaped from one planet into space, only to be heading potentially into danger on another.

I need to process what I just experienced... and then I need more.
Great beginning of a quirky space opera with Vaughan's wit and humor. Solid writing, awesome art.
This was so weird in so many ways but at the same time, it hit close to home.
Sure, there's Rocketship forests, flying angel whores, robots with TV heads, naked spider-woman hybrids and all that BUT at its core, this is a simple story about a newly married soldier couple from opposing factions who are trying to escape their butthurt pursuers while also trying to raise an unplanned kid. It's just like Vaughan said: "I realized that making comics and making babies were kind of the same thing and if I could combine the two, it would be less boring if I set it in a crazy sci-fi fantasy universe and not just have anecdotes about diaper bags."
But that's not the only thing going on and it's amazing how many subplots have been included into a single volume: On one side of the universe, there's "The Will" who's a freelancing bounty hunter (or something) but he slacks off until he finds a reason to hunt down Alana and Marko and their kid. His reason to finally move his ass and go hunting is unexpectedly heartwarming plus his relationship with another freelancer is amusing as heck. Then we also have this robot prince fresh out of war only to be thrust into the crazy search for Alana and Marko too. He's obviously pissed but I can't help feeling like he's intrigued with Alana and Marko's relationship and how it came to be.
So basically, it's a really extensive comic with great gritty art and it definitely has Game of Throne-esqe vibes to it but it looks more like Star Wars on the outside. Really looking forward to the rest.

Fat phobic comments from MC's, r slur, I kept waiting for the book to pull me in and instead I kept getting yanked out because of poor writing choices based in stereotypes and prejudices.
