for a book so short i didn’t expect it to hit me so deeply, but that last line actually felt like a pick axe to my heart: precise and sharp . whilst i didn’t really care much for any of the characters (philippe annoyed me but all characters who are writers do so #no hate) the overall message hurt a lot , and the shame and fear permeated every aspect . what a punch to pack in a book only 150 pages .. i actually have v little words rn . 3 stars is apt i fear . Wow.

The fact that this stems from truth makes it even more powerful, the internal feelings and throughts of the narrator gave and insight not often seen.

Think this story will be with me for a while.

It’s good. I think the plot is a little predictable but it did still get to me by the end. The romance is written in a very hazy way which is maybe supposed to resemble the haziness of memories, but also makes it hard for me to believe the emotions. These are two characters who have impacted each other so greatly they remember each other for the rest of their lives. And yet, it never really seems like they like each other all that much. This book definitely grew on me as it went. And I discovered different angles as I kept reading. But I had my issues as well.

Beautiful and heartbreaking, if not a bit cliche.

Highly recommend to fans of Call Me By Your Name
