The first 98 pages of this book were sitting at a solid 2 stars for me. Lots of info dumping that didnt flow with the storytelling but instead were added as a "oh you should know this" insert. The last 50 pages gripped me in a way I wish the entire story did, the characters becoming more real and an actual plot forming, although the plot was already leading towards the end.

This had probably the best translation of any book I’ve read (way to go, Molly Ringwald) and I really felt like the essence of the book came across accurately. The voice was a bit pretentious but the analogies were all very apt. I didn’t feel like I got to know the characters very well but I did feel like I could sympathize with their emotions.
