The title should be, "A Western Approach After Sappho".  Are only Italians, Greek, French, English women Sappho? The mention of "intelligent green eyes" about 4 times in the book feels incongruous. Would not recommend as it is exclusive.

So disjointed, I found it really hard to follow. Small excerpts flitting between the different stories of women with no thread to keep it together. Very slow going, and decided I didn’t have the time.

felt very fragmented and i sometimes struggled to keep hold of the thread and keep track of all the figures, but a stunning and ambitious concept.

Loved the first half- 5 stars. Character driven with lots of reflections and applications to present experiences.
Second half - seemed to loose sense of direction, repeated ideas many times.
