How can a book be both predictable and unpredictable at the same time?

I think this entry did a good job of keeping attention focused and moving things along more naturally. I didn’t have as much confusion as to where I was as I did with the Copper Gauntlet. Another wild ending though for sure.

The plot meandered a bit more in this one, but THAT ENDING!! The stakes are way high now

I was able to predict a lot of what was going to happen before it did but the book was still enjoyable.
SpoilerI could tell that Celia wasn't the spy and guesses that it was Alex Strike before it was revealed. There was something off about Anastasia Tarquin but I wasn't expecting her to be Constantine and Jericho's mother. From the prophecy, I was expecting Aaron would be the one to die but I didn't expect it to happen so soon. I also thought that it would take much longer for everyone to find out that Call was actually Constantine but now that everyone truly knows who he is I'm interested to see how they react to him as they have already thrown him in prison.
Was not expecting that ending thought. Really excited to see where this is all going.
