It never ceased to amaze me how TJ comes up with these characters, because even though there’s action and mystery the characters themselves are so well drawn, so well written, and the dialogue, how does he come up with these one liners I will never know!! Yes! Nicky, yes!
And the narrator adds so much to it, he does such a good job with the inflections and tone I am completely in love with this audiobook.

4.5 stars, easily. This one was, save for some really, really long dialogue parts that maybe could have been edited down a bit (stuff in the beginning, Simon Burke interview at the end

I think Klune really shows his maturity and empathy to hear and respond to the criticisms of The Extraordinaries and police representation. He addressed that in this book and I think that's really commendable.

Story-wise, I just didn't vibe with this one as much. Maybe I'm showing my age, but the YA tone and narration started to drag. The big twist at the end was also sour to me. How I feel about the final installment will really depend on how that is handled.

The best part of these books is the relationship between Nick and his dad.

A bit more palatable than the first book, the main character is a bit less dumb in this one I guess. Still didn't like it much but couldn't stop reading anyways.
