Made it to 30%.... I just can't do it y'all. I don't see the humor, I don't see the winning masterpiece... Its impossible to tell when he's embellishing or being honest. Its just one giant no. Not my thing.

The best part of this book is I finished it.
dark emotional reflective sad slow-paced

the heartbreaking thing is this l'éducation trés sentimentale made dave eggnog a millionaire

The premise is soul-crushing, but the prose is exhausting.
funny reflective sad medium-paced

Couldn't finish it, just not my thing. Meh.

I found this book to be hilarious and depressing at the same time, just like life can be. Eggers' honesty and humor draws you in. I could especially relate to the part about auditioning for "The Real World." (What 20-something didn't want to be on that show in the mid-90's, when it was still good?) You have to really pay attention to every word, even on the copyright page, or you'll miss some laughs.

Gelezen in Frankrijk, in maandelijkse sessies.

A precious, too-clever, self-conscious work of staggering mediocrity.
