"It is impossible for you to go on as you were before, so you must go on as you never have." Pain and grief don't leave. They are you. This book doesn't try and fix you. It holds you, tells you it is sorry, and asks you to live, in the ways you can.

Just what I needed to hear
I will admit after having a pretty tough week or two between stress at work, being denied a promotion, and my boyfriend deciding he was going to move to Colorado as a single guy, I found this book. It was on the top lists of multiple sites for "books to read in a quarter-life crisis."
Two chapters in particular where, it felt, directed right at me, "romantic love is not a competitive sport" and "waiting by the phone." There were many good quotes that I highlighted throughout the book and is definitely a great read (especially if you never had the privilege to read Dear Sugar).

Way too long (like at least twice as long as it should have been). Not sure what I was expecting, but just got beaten down by the repetitive nature of the compilation. Some good nuggets in there, but they just weren't worth the effort of the getting through the whole thing.

Enjoyed this book a lot. Beautifully written. The passages that I connected with a lot were obviously the ones related to topics I'm also struggling with, see The Human Scale (https://therumpus.net/2011/10/21/dear-sugar-the-rumpus-advice-column-88-the-human-scale/), The Ghost Ship That Didn't Carry Us (https://therumpus.net/2011/04/21/dear-sugar-the-rumpus-advice-column-71-the-ghost-ship-that-didnt-carry-us/), We Are All Savages Inside (https://therumpus.net/2011/03/31/dear-sugar-the-rumpus-advice-column-69-we-are-all-savages-inside/), Tiny Beautiful Things (https://therumpus.net/2011/02/10/dear-sugar-the-rumpus-advice-column-64/), We Call This A Clusterfuck (https://therumpus.net/2011/09/15/dear-sugar-the-rumpus-advice-column-85-we-call-this-a-clusterfuck/), Trust Yourself Wildly (seems to be behind a paywall: https://cherylstrayed.substack.com/p/dear-sugar-letter-12)

Halfway through and I already love it. Cheryl's advice is truly sobering and enchanting. It's a bit wierd at times but I guess life is a wierd at times too.
