I found it enjoyable once the story picked up, but the beginning felt a bit too slow for my taste. It seemed to drag on at times, as not much happened throughout most of the narrative. However, I did appreciate the ending! This book is definitely a slow burn, revealing the story piece by piece. Once the secrets started to unfold, everything began to click into place. What stood out to me the most were the settings; the author truly transported me to these exotic locations alongside the characters. It felt like a holiday gone wrong! The plot kept me guessing the whole time, as I had no clue what twists were coming or who the antagonist was. Overall, it was an easy and engaging read.

I recommend checking the trigger warnings before diving into this book.

Thank You NetGalley and William Morrow | William Morrow Paperbacks for allowing me to read this ARC.

This book was an ARC from Netgalley. The book description sounded right up my alley, but the actual plot was a bit of a missed opportunity. The characters and there stories were all just a bit boring. The two "good" characters are left completely corrupted and given no resolution. The overall story ended with a depressive feeling. We learn little to nothing about the villain or how he located the group in Thailand to begin with. I wasn't invested in them or the outcome. The book seemed to move along at a very slow place, and could have been reduced to a short story. This was an ARC so this book does have some typos and need of further editing. Nothing that significantly altered the story. Overall, this story felt very basic from a plot and character development standpoint.

The Trip follows four friends on the holiday of a lifetime; but it doesn't seem to live up to their expectations, ending in a vicious murder.

This book was a real slow burner and that usually puts me right off, but there's something that kept me hooked on this one. I really like Phoebe Morgan's writing style and the depth she gives to her characters. There were times where I felt it was dragging a bit, but it never made me want to stop reading and it made me realised how invested I was as I was impatient to find out how it ended.

I always like a story centred around a holiday and this was no exception. Thailand was a wonderful setting for this book and I enjoyed reading about the locations, having visited a lot myself.

My thanks to NetGalley for sending me this ARC in return for an honest review.
