The only interesting things about this book were Kael and the spiders and the spiders died

I had so much fun reading this, I didn’t want to put it down. The story starts a little slow as we get to know the characters, then moves to a medium pace as Zorian arrives at school, and then it is fast-paced and exciting.

Great start to the series! I can't wait to start arc 2. I love the magic system, the world, and the characters. The premise/mystery has me very engaged which is important since the story begins with a protagonist that isn't very likable. Thankfully, the growth is there and by the second half I was loving the slice of life elements to the story. I certainly expect to be rereading this series when I finish at which point I may upgrade my rating.
