I'm just so sad for her and completely understand the title. I personally loved her as Sam in ICarly but I'm glad she's not doing the reboot.

I don't want to rate this book since it doesn't feel right rating someone's life.
But I am happy to review it. This book had everything. The honesty, the relatability, the humour, the rawness, etc. It was so tough to read because of the heavy topics that were discussed but it was a story that needed to be read. I am so glad this is one of my first non-fiction reads of the year.
So much love and strength to Jennette for sharing this story with us. ❤️

I was really impressed by McCurdy’s storytelling. A lot of trauma memoirs feel very heavy, but McCurdy was able to make this feel more matter of fact, reflective, and even funny at times!
It was also very interesting to learn more about the world of child acting.

🎧✨ Audiobook Review ✨🎧
I’m Glad My Mom Died
by Jennette McCurdy
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jennette McCurdy’s memoir is heartbreaking, funny, and brutally honest. She shares her story of growing up as a Nickelodeon child star, living under the control of her abusive mother, and battling eating disorders and anxiety.
Some stories demand to be heard in the author’s own voice—I’m Glad My Mom Died is one of them. Jennette’s narration is raw, vulnerable, and full of quiet strength. Hearing her voice—shaky at times, sharp and witty at others—adds a layer of intimacy that makes both the pain and the humor hit deeper. It’s not easy listening, but it’s necessary.
This is one of those memoirs that stays with you. It’s raw yet hopeful, and Jennette’s performance makes it unforgettable.

Engaging, (unfortunately) relatable, was a good palate cleanser after a spree of so-so books. Would recommend it to someone who wants a quick read.
And this isn’t a hot take but I think we can all agree Nickelodeon was lowkey incredibly evil and abusive for years on end. Needs to be some sort of survivor’s fund to help pay for the years of trauma therapy kid stars and former employees have needed after working there.
