There is a lot in this story to unpack, so I get why this is taught in schools so often. Even though this story has permeated pop culture for so long, I wasn't expecting things quite as many racist elements that we wish were just of its time to pop up, and some of the twist elements remained new to me.  I was glad to cross this classic off my to-read list, even if not all of it spoke to me.

I somehow did not read this in high school when I was "supposed to". Loved the party scenes, they're very immersive and make me want to explore the 1920s more. All of the characters are deplorable, on purpose, but not in any kind of "fun" way.

This is my second favorite classic.

Fitzgerald created a bunch of hateful characters who lived in an empty world despite everything they had (and everything their money could buy). Gatsby was a man who had everything and ended up alone.

Realmente amados, prosseguiremos, barcos contra a corrente, incessantemente atraĆdos para o passado.

I don't how I managed to keep myself from being spoiled for this book this long bc DAMN what a ride. I truly did not expect that ending. Not a full 5-stars bc I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to reading this book again.
