It doesn’t seem long enough and it felt a bit rushed. I also wasn’t expecting the spicy scenes

Funny, light-hearted and sassy

I really enjoyed this funny, light-hearted and sassy story. It was perfect to read on a cold, winters night and I found I got really interested in the characters as the book progressed. There's an equal amount of romance, humour and steaminess so everything you'd hope for from a contemporary chick lit! I'd definitely read more from Lucy Keeling and really looking forward to the next instalment!

Just a Boy Friend was one of those books that I had never seen anything about and went in completely blind after finding it second hand online.

I enjoyed the storyline as it featured some good tropes - best friend’s brother, enemies to lovers and he falls first, but I wasn’t amazed by it. The story at times felt quite slow and there wasn’t really a big event to keep me gripped. It was a nice read, but if you’re looking for a book with plot twists, this won’t be for you.

I loved Marcus as a character, but I struggled to connect with Sophie. I really wanted to like her but she definitely frustrated me a number of times. You could see Marcus fell hard for her, but I think the romance lacked and so I didn’t fully feel the connection between the two of them all the way through. Sophie wanted to focus on her career, but I think the book featured more about that than the romance so was hard to see how they got to the end. If the book was a little longer and we were given a few more romantic scenes, I would have been a bit more invested I think.

I really didn’t enjoy reading this book. It took me MONTHS to get through it and put me in the worst reading slump. I love watching YouTube, but after reading this I have realised that (in my opinion) it doesn’t translate well in books and just gets quite boring. I didn’t connect with any of the characters and so I didn’t care about what happened to them. I wouldn’t recommend this book.

This book was an easy read. The plot was fairly straight forward but it had a nice ending to it!
