I need to stop going into corax books expecting him to turn around and head towards Terra to get the siege underway.

Although I keep being disappointed by my own expectations, when put aside Corax and what's left of his legion are ways fun to follow on their hit and run tactics behind enemy lines.

I so get excited for any hint at him realising his truth and long for the day he turns into a big demon crow.

A set of really unique novellas that continue Corax being the most human of the primarchs. I wish we got a little bit more of the Therion Cohort and the way they get written off for the final Novella was depressing but that entire novella is pretty much a bummer in a good way.

3.5*, maybe. I loved Deliverance Lost, and thoroughly enjoyed all of Thorpe's shorter Raven Guard fiction.

The only brand-new content in this book is "Weregeld", which seems to be an end of sorts to the RG's Heresy story. It's a solid story, with a tragic final page, but the writing felt... off. I don't know why, but it didn't have the same feel as the rest of the book, nor Thorpe's other novels (although, he is good at giving his different characters their own voices).

Definitely recommend this to fans of the series and especially those who have enjoyed the author's Raven Guard fiction.

So that's the end of book 40 in the Horus Heresy series. Next up, The Master of Mankind by Aaron DB, and we're in the final stretch (at long last).
