Again this book is fine. There isn't anything particularly bad about it, its just boring. The characters fall flat, the pacing is bland, and the story barely passes as engaging. I think the premise is cool especially with the setting and time period but, the execution is bland and needed either more explanation or less explanation and more action. Very middle of the road series wise.

‘The Candles Are Burning’ is an adult fantasy short story with a paranormal vibe. Set in Savannah, a woman must make a deal with Death to get back to her daughter.

I love stories that have death as a sentient character. This was really cool, I had a good time and I really enjoyed the narration.

“The only people who were truly dead were those who had been forgotten.”

Rep - Black (Maggie; Francis)

TWs/CWs - Corpse; Death; Death of a loved one; Gore; Grief; Medical detail; Violence
