This was a fairly mediocre novel, with the romance occurring a little too fast and too hard to be realistic, and the happily ever after too soon and too perfect to feel good.

This is the first time dark romance that I wouldn't normally be attracted to has just totally knocked my socks off. (In the best way possible.) I loved everything about this book.

Cried a little bit throughout the whole book. A little messy at the end but cute story.

For a dark romance, this was sweet.

I really enjoyed the MMC and his ott stalkerish behavior towards the FMC. The guy developed an app specifically for the FMC to win plushies!!! I loved his vulnerability, protectiveness, and friendship with "Animal".

But FMC wasn't that interesting, and I couldn't fully connect with her.
The first half was interesting, but the second half dragged, and the love story felt rushed.

Overall, this was a good stalker/ obsessed hero romance and read more like a contemporary romance than a dark one.

- stalker/ obsessed hero romance
- touch her, and I'll kill you
- killer MMC
- insta lust/ love
- past trauma

⚠️Safety: mention of the murder of a parent, cancer

Wow wow wow I really enjoyed this. Nix uses the term of endearment “love” and that’s really all you need for me to be obsessed.

The only thing I didn’t like about this was the break-up towards the end and how long their separation was. Like damn over a year???

I loved Nix and Becca together their chemistry is everything. And Nix is SO SO sweet. Well… to her at least and to the very few others.

This has one of the sweetest assassins I have ever read. I absolutely loved the cover and the whole concept. Just visualizing Nix's full body skull tattoo was hot.

Becca was strong, but also vulnerable. I felt their connection from the get go. Nix is a total stalker but he does it in a sweet way....

I know that's crazy, but he was trying to protect those he loved. He was such a cinnamon roll, but a badass and I was here for it.

Tropes:
~dark, forbidden romance
~romantic suspense
~stalker hero
~full-body tattooed hero
~contract killer hero

I really enjoyed this! Usually stalker romances start off strong and then lose me in the second half to boredom and eye rolling, but this one kept me interested the whole way through. It also made sense why the hero chose this heroine to stalk (she helped save him from an abusive father when they were children) and it was more a protective type of stalking and him wanting to keep her safe. I will admit the tattoo twist near the end felt strange to me, but I’ll give credit to the author for having a character do something I definitely wasn’t expecting.

This story grabs you right from the first page. Here we meet the boy who becomes Mercy, a man who hides himself from everyone. After his mother is killed at the hands of his father, a small girl with a big mouth stands up for him and is forever cherished by that boy. After they both grow up, Mercy protects Becca from afar knowing he can never have her. Then things change.

This story was quite different for me and I like some dark stories. However, it honestly worked for me even though there were parts that didn't play out as I would have expected in real life. But that's the beauty of fiction. Mercy had very likable characters, an interesting plot line, and plenty of action, both inside and out of the bedroom so to speak. All in all, I really enjoyed the story and some parts of it were just so sweet. Dandelions. Read it and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Now let me speak to the narration since I listened to this title. Muffy Newtown and Zachary Webber sold this story for me. I always enjoy their work and this title is no different. I honestly couldn't have cast it better if I had been able to pick who was in my ears. Zach gives an emotional performance with a dark edge that he is a master of. Muffy is sweet and emotional and gives her characters strength and sensitivity. I would not have enjoyed this title quite as much as I did, if I had only read it.
