*** Riddles in Mathematics (KATIE COTUGNO) - A contemporary tale of a teenage girl who recently came out to her family and has a crush on her brother's BFF, who she believes is her brother's soulmate.
** Triangle Solo (GARTH NIX) - A barely there love triangle between 2 guys who are best friends and their reunion with a girl who had been their childhood comparison. The boys live off world, but the story was too short to flesh out the characters or world building.

Interesting collection, widely varying in genre, tone, and style. If you like your anthologies to be samplers, giving you a chance to discover different authors, you should like this one. The variation in how each author approached the “triangle” idea was fascinating. But I usually like anthologies that hang together a little more closely, and some stories I didn’t really care for, so I give it 3 stars. Your mileage may vary.

Okay, I enjoyed a couple of stories in this - namely "Riddles in Mathematics" by Katie Cotugno, "Dread South" by Justina Ireland, and "Lessons for Beginners" by Julie Murphy. Of these, "Dread South" was definitely my favourite - zombie apocalypse AND historical fiction? Um, sign me up? (Can you guess what these three share in common lmao.) I wasn't really jazzed on most of the rest. I guess I came in with some expectations that these would radically subvert love triangles, and for the most part, I, ah, did not feel like that was the case.
Of course there were some really interesting concepts. I liked "Cass, An, and Dra" by Natalie Parker which was cool as it integrated a psychic paranormal narrative into the love triangle story. I'm not usually a fan of love triangles or psychics but it was interesting how that played out. And I found "Unus, Duo, Tres" cool as well with its depiction of vampires. I really appreciate how diverse the characters and stories were, in both marginalized people as well as genre and writing.

Well, this was a bummer.
I usually love short stories and I was ready to be swept away by unusual love triangles.
Sadly, most of these stories I found tough to even finish, the writing was weird and forced, it just didn't do it for me at all.
I only liked 2-3 stories, the rest were kind of horrible.
