Book one walked so book two could RUN. The hope, the trust, the friendships, the light in the darkness…
Do you have authors that you would read anything by? Umrigar just made my list.

• Continuing my TBR project:
This is one of the highest rated book on my TBR list - Originally added April 2, 2020.

I read the first book in this series about a year ago (recommended by ModernMrsDarcy.com) and loved it. As soon as I picked up this one the story came right back to me and I quickly fell into the drama. Umrigar as a special way of pulling you into the story.

love this story of love, family, secrets and strong women. Such a range of women who have experiences so much but show strength and resilience. So glad to see stories that are not the stereotype south asian woman abused and pushed down - but show the strength and individuality that I saw in so many of the women I loved and admired growing up.

The first book was really good but this sequel is that much better. The main character struggles to support herself and her granddaughter and in the process of dealing with all life's hardships the reader witnesses this natural evolution of her attitudes and becoming the best version of herself. A beautiful story with very apt social commentary with a glimpse of what it is like being lower caste/class in India.
