Audio book - listened to August 2020

Martin Short is everything you would imagine he would be. He is all heart and I cannot imagine there is anyone that would say a negative word about him.
The book is incredibly enjoyable. You will absolutely laugh and you will also cry. However, get the audiobook. Martin is the narrator and it is worth every penny to hear him do his characters.
I must say, it is a fantastic book and you'd be mental to pass it by.
Thank you Martin, for letting us into your life.

Definitely listen to this as Martin Short sings and does impressions. His experience of losing his wife and best friend really touched my own widowed heart. A lot of this feels a little bit like "by the way, I have a ton of famous friends..." but he's charming and funny throughout.

Martin Short has a remarkable memory, or he went under hypnosis to write this autobiography.

There were some great anecdotes about some of my favorite comedians *before they were stars*! Gilda Radner, Eugene Levy, Paul Shaffer, etc. And many as they were breaking out: Steve Martin, Larry David, Diane Keaton.

Short's family life from his youth through adulthood was really special, too, and they amplified his art. Will it rip your heart out? Actually, maybe.

Didn’t know much about Martin but some movies and tv shows and SNL… learned more about his life, and was reminded how talented he his.

Really really really enjoyed this funny man and his heart-warming memoir. Definitely recommend that audio version.

I got this through Goodreads giveaways. I've enjoyed many of Martin Short's movies, but didn't know a lot about him a person. I entered to win this because my husband's a big fan. Short's memoirs are sweet and funny. You get to see many stars in a different light, and a little bit of good advice in dealing with adversity. The end is quite touching, and reminded me a lot of my grandparents, though Martin is my parents' age. Everyone should get the chance to have a love like he and Nancy did. My heart breaks for his loss and I greatly admire his resilience.

This book was so fun and enjoyable. I mean, really, who doesn’t love Martin Short? He really has had such an amazing life. There are some very heartfelt and tragic moments, but it’s super funny for the most part – I laughed out loud so many times (completely startling my dogs each time). It’s absolutely insane how many comedy legends (and people in the entertainment industry at large) he worked with before they were famous and at their prime.

I Must Say is a delightful memoir of Martin Short. From his days with SCTV, SNL, and his various movie projects, the book does a nice job of covering the entire scope of Mr. Short. A lot of the material in the book I’ve seen before thanks to the dozens of YouTube clips that you can watch on your own. For example, appearances on Letterman and Conan over the years is repeated here, so in some instances, there is no new ground.

What I did appreciate more however was his love for his wife. The end of this book is heartbreaking, yet lovely in his admiration for her. I would also recommend listening and watching the Steve Martin clip on YouTube of a song that is brought up late in this memoir. It beautifully compliments this part of the story and showcases how much Short and Martin love and respect each other. Long live, Mr. Short. One of the most underrated and best performers out there.
