I am so disappointed, this was not at all what I expected it to be. Slight spoilers cause I cant be bothered.
The writing is so choppy I really struggled in the beginning to follow scenery and plot switches.
Audra's actions are not understandable at all. I feel like she flips between teenage resentment and actual insanity on the toss of a dime without explanation or reasoning. Her cruelty is never properly examined so it just falls flat at best or makes her terrible at worst.
Zad was also not it. He starts sleeping with her when they grew up together and he knew they were to be betrothed and she was only 19 years to his 50+ when it starts? Nah. You can clearly see him manipulating her at every turn so no matter how true or real his feelings are, it left a bad taste in my mouth.
I think Raiden was maybe the best written of the three? Or maybe I just feel that way because he had the least page time and characterization.
There were so many sex scenes that don't offer anything, no insight to the characters, no plot progression, nothing. If you got 20+ sex scenes and they all don't last longer than 5 paragraphs, the buildup is not enough for my ace ass to feel invested - or anything really.
The biggest letdown by far was the fallout between Raiden and Audra before the story starts.

She wrote the word "behoove" too many times. I hate it.
This book confused me more than a physics theory. I do not understand what the characters are. Fae? Vampires? Hybrids? What?
I went and set my heart for Raiden as duh, the title says so. I thought the book would be about her and the Raiden fixing their fucked up relationship.
But noooo! Of course there has to be some sort of mating as fae is involved. I'm disappointed.
I WAS ROOTING FOR RAIDEN AS HE HAS MORE CHEMISTRY WITH HER THAN ZAD. Although, Zad deserved a better ending. So does Raiden.
The fighting... skipped so many pages that I do not get it. There was so much info missing.
Audra is an MC you will love! Such a cold-hearted queen that also knows and sees the rights and wrongs.
This book can be compared to a physics class. You'll get it at some points but not all. You'll finish the class with a passing grade but not with satisfaction if physics isn't your thing. ☠

DNF at 64 pages.
I find the MC incredibly irritating and her bratty brand of evil just doesn't work for me.

Oh my goodness! This story is beautifully told. As with Ella Fields, things aren't clear cut and the lines between good and bad are blurred.
I wasn't sure what my heart wanted and my opinions of these characters were constantly changing, right up to the very end.
There are very few authors that I will let play havoc on my heart. Ella Fields is one of those few that I will allow to toy with my emotions.
A King So Cold is different from what Ella Fields has written in that it's fantasy yet it still has the typical Ella Fields style.

Dnf. Wasn't bad, the plot wasn't going in a direction I particularly liked
