A King So Cold

Ella Fields

3.57 AVERAGE

I love Ella Fields but I just couldn't stand the FMC in this one, she was too cold hearted for my taste.

Wow! Where do I even begin? This book was like nothing I have read by Ella before. It was amazing It's more a fantasy setting which is a genre I haven't read in a while. The strength in the characters, the storytelling itself, the twists and turns that have you asking yourself "WHAT?" All of it was amazing.

I loved how she portrayed Audra, the Winter Queen as tough, ruthless, but as the story went on, you realize that she is only doing what she knows, what she has seen growing up. Deep down she is capable of love and compassion but she has to keep her mask up. She only shows compassion to few and love to really only one.

I was a bit surprised at the way it all ended, but given the story and circumstances of the characters it was the only way a HEA could be found.

Started slow. The main character was not likable in the beginning, but I loved her by the end.

Could not get into this.

Hated the main character. She surpassed my limits for being able to stand a bitchy/evil character.

I mean, I LOVE a evil characters - but I hate evil characters with zero depth/charisma. I'm sure it got better later ... but I don't got time for this shit.

Complicated Dark Perfection

Loved how complex and dark the characters were. As the love triangle unfolds you find yourself grappling with the multidimensional characters and competing values.

Loved all the spice

I could not get into these characters. I gave the FMC a chance based on reviews and while some of her actions are cathartic, I didn't care what happened to her. Maybe I'm just bitter she doesn't choose my favorite love interest of the love triangle. The lore is confusing and the audiobook narration would have benefitted from a second male author as all the males sounded the same.

Loved the start, got repetitive and I gave up after 75% lol. I love that the protagonist is a villain and she REALLY goes IN with the torture scene trigger warners for body fluids O.0 she made someone drink their own ....

just meh
also didn’t know what the heck was happening until like 75% in
just gotta realise that you need to turn your brain off when you’re reading this

ALSO the fact that this ended up being a reverse harem (can it be a harem between 1 gal and 2 guys) and the gal is not in love with her first love anymore and is mates with the other guy ?????? like 75% of the book i remember is the gal not being excited being with her first love esp as she comes to the revelations that the other guy is her mate??? kinda??? just ??? nah????

I enjoyed this book. The beginning with a little tough to get through only because it took a little while to explain what was going on, but once it kicked in it was good. The plot had excellent twists and turns and it takes a while to know who the queen will end up which I enjoyed. The title was a little odd since it’s mostly about a queen. But eh, look past that and go read it :)
