This story was so strange. Why are there so many “god-dads”?? Aren’t they called god-fathers?? And it sounds dumb too. But also the character names are just all thrown at the very beginning. I was so lost trying to figure out who the main male lead was for the first 30 pages.
Also, you could tell that there was an issue with Callum from the very beginning. No one person will give you millions of dollars, a house, cars, and anything you want without getting something in return. Also why didn’t these kids ask why there were being moved to this small town when there were so many other places that they could be in. It’s not like their new guardian has a home there and it would make it easier to watch over them. Also, why didn’t Sloane understand to not mess with other people’s business.
Everything about this story seemed long and dumb for it actually contained. But I would still read the rest of the series to figure out what happened.

The prose is not my forte, I struggled with the back and forth flashbacks and even the dialogue at points. The characters are all arseholes (except Noa) and there were paragraph dumps explaining again and again the dynamics between all the families.
But I got the gist of the story so I'll continue with the series.

Loved the progression of the characters and that the author didn't try to change them too much. Nice fast read but enjoyed the suspect throughout.
There were just a few scenes that made me a little uncomfortable but enjoyed the book as a whole
