I honestly have no idea how to feel about this book.
It’s a dark highschool romance? And i lowkey had no idea what I was reading at first. I saw someone recommended it on tiktok and just dipped in right away. And I was definitely not expecting something like this.
I feel like the main male character kinda pushed himself at the FMC. Although she was aroused and everything, she didn’t say no, when they first had they first ‘intimate scene’ it still felt wrong for me. I liked the ending of the book tho. The FMC AND MMC got closer together, and it was cute. Also the plot twist was just WOW. I was expecting something twisted but it still got me surprised. It ends on a cliffhanger so well. Kinda don’t like it for it too. And I’m not the biggest fan of the writing. It just didn’t click.
Although I still will bee reading next books since I am curious about Sloane’s and Dorian’s story.

I can't. I tried and I just can't.
The book is extremely inconsistent in terms of its quality and tone and the way that it conveys information. Sometimes it was done in a way that was just fine or was only tangentially related to the topic at hand, which I honestly didn't mind too much. (I knew what kind of story it was going into it and expected this much and had therefore adjusted my expectations accordingly before reading.) However, the thing that happened more often than that was the info dumping. My gods the info dumping.
Ms/Mrs (not sure which is correct) Eden O'Neil, I do not need you to give me the same information numerous times over in the span of a couple paragraphs as if I didn't get it the first time. Especially when the information being presented is already very simplistic and easy to follow.
Another major issue I took with the story was how blasé the character was about everything; I don't mind dislikable characters, but she basically just told her thoughts, and what was happening, and it didn't really feel like she was FEELING anything about what was going on. And anything that she might've been feeling was simply being told to us. This mixed with the aforementioned issue of repetition made it very hard to read. The character sounded bored and maybe mildly agitated at times. Outside of that there wasn't anything else to grasp onto.
Ordinarily I might've kept going in the hopes that the characters and story would improve but I was having such a rotten time I don't think it'd be worth my time to do so. On top of that I read reviews echoing these opinions and they've stated that it only gets worse from here and I just- I love myself too much for that, thank you very much.
