This is a cute magic-themed cozy mystery. I liked the fact that the characters all had just one magical power and that everyone is pretty much equally powerful. The mystery was also not too fraught, which is refreshing.
A fun intro to the Haven Cozy Mystery series. Harper is a witch who is taking over a bookstore after her great-grandmother passes away. I'm interested in reading more about her and the other people in Havenwood.

Harper got news of her great grandmothers passing and headed to Havenwood with full plans to run her great grandmothers book store. She figured she would be all set, since there was an apartment above the store. But life tosses unexpected circumstances in Harper's way. At the lawyers office she meets for the first time a second cousin, who is included in the will. There is one stipulation. The two of them each need to come up with a plan how they would run the store. The lawyer will pick the winner and that is who will get the shop and the apartment. There was a break in and stolen valuable books, so Harper goes investigating the break in. The cousin is a very shady character. Was he involved in the theft? Were the competing book store owners involved in the theft? Is the lawyer in co-hoots with the cousin? A definite page turner with twists and turns.

The first book in a well written cozy mystery series. Havenwood is a beautiful small town filled to the brim with charm and magical creatures. this novel is filled with unique well developed characters,unexpended occurrences and a splash or two of magic. A well paced read for those looking for a delightful read
