I expected a Hallmark Channel romance, and I expected to be rolling my eyes a lot. I did kind of get that Hallmark romance, but it took several zigs and zags to get there. So I did a lot less rolling of my eyes than I thought I would.
Graphic: Abandonment, Grief, Death of parent, Panic attacks/disorders, Blood, Body horror, Fire/Fire injury, and Infidelity

This was a 4 star read and I didn't read a thing about this book before I picked it up. I loved Joy, my heart broke for her and her heartbreak. I was shocked when I read the plane crash, that was not what I was expecting! When she found the inn I thought it was strange that the boy wasn't more shocked by her appearance but I let it go. I thought Daniel was so gruff for ignoring Joy so much and then when she passes out at the church, I was thinking "WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING?!" The next chunk of the book was boring to me, I truly didn't care about Stacey or Thom and I just wanted Joy to get back to Washington! I absolutely loved the ending. It was perfection.
There was one part of the book at the start of the chapter when Joy makes a comment about being "an autistic" which turned me off of this book greatly. However, it was written in 2005 at a time when referring to people by their diagnoses was tolerated. I wish that with the new release, they would have edited that.
