This book was ok, I guess. The thing is I wasn't really hooked, even if the plot wasn't bad, and therefore I found it difficult to read it. I'm sure that people who enjoy more relaxed or slow books will love this piece but unfortunately, that was not my case. I wasn't able to finish it but the writing and the plot were good, I think it was just that I wasn't at the best moment to try to read it, which doesn't mean that you will not like the book so don't pay too much attention to this if it was just me who had this problem because I was kind of stuck in my current reads as it was.

This is a short and sweet prequel/ novella. This is definitely a sit and read it in one short time read. The representation of mental health struggles in this book was enjoyable for me to read. I highly recommend Star Bright for a quick light hearted read.

Read if you love: enemies to lovers, second chance lovers

Thank you to Haver Street Press and NetGalley for the ARC of this novella in exchange for my honest review.

Star Bright is a quick and easy romance, the first in the Starstruck series. The book has some fantastic mental health rep, around anxiety and panic attacks. The author handles these topics with care and careful consideration.

I liked both main characters, Kimberleigh and Spencer and liked the enemies to lovers trope. I also liked that although there is a miscommunication trope, they actually talk about and move forward.

The book was a bit insta-lovey for my taste, but I think it had to be, being so short. I struggled because I found myself wanting more story from this, most pining, more angst, just more.

Susannah Nix is still a favourite author of mine and I will continue to pick up her books, as she creates great stories, with fun plots. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an open and honest review. All opinions are 100% mine.

Kimberleigh Cress is one of the hottest young actresses in Hollywood. Her life in the spotlight has developed a shield. Trust few and don’t let anyone see her true self.

So when a controversial tabloid reporter comes upon her during a vulnerable moment, the last thing she expects is kindness. Devlin isn't at all who Kimberleigh thought he was. He even has the power to chip away her layers and surprisingly have fun and feelings….could she have the wrong impression of him? And can she act on those bubbling feelings when she has taught herself not to feel for anyone?

I truly loved this book. I was a little hesitant after reading a few reviews but Nic proved me wrong! I love celebrity romance novels and this one delivered to exactly that. The characters may not be likeable at first but I think that’s the plan as you continue to learn about them and why they act the way they do. I love how she made celebrities relatable. The issue of anxiety and panic attacks is focused on and done so in such a real way that we are reminded that everyone is human and has their demons. Being a novella I also loved how this was a short read that I could read in one night and go to bed with all warm fuzzies. I will definitely be checking out more of this series and Nix’s books. Thank you NetGalley for an arc copy in exchange for my honest review!

BRIEF SYNOPSIS: Actress Kimberleigh Cress has made it a habit not to let too many people get close to her, if only to protect herself. As a celebrity gossip reporter, it’s Spencer’s job to try and get celebrities to spill about the juicy parts of their lives. Spencer is the last person Kimberleigh wants to have a panic attack in front of. But when she does, she finds Spencer isn’t the slimy guy she thought he was. He’s actually caring and sweet. And he makes her want to let down her walls and give him her trust.

I started this novella earlier this year but it begins at Christmastime so I thought I would save it to read in December, even though it’s not a Christmas novella. I enjoyed this novella a lot. I love books about celebrities so I was naturally intrigued by this one. This is the first in a series about celebrities and I’m excited to read more of the series.

I enjoyed Kimberleigh and Spencer’s relationship. I feel like you don’t often see celebrity romance books between an actor and a reporter, so I enjoyed the different spin here. Kimberleigh and Spencer both messed up, but I was glad to see that Spencer understood why Kimberleigh reacted the way she did. I also loved the epilogue in this. This is an easy quick read if you’re looking for a romance novella.

Very cute read. Enemies to lovers/secret lovers trope, which is something I will always adore. This was the first book I’ve read by this author, and I did enjoy it enough to finish it in one evening. My only complaints would be how quickly the romance progressed, I don’t feel like there was enough development of the characters. I also feel like it ended rather abruptly, one or two more chapters would have made it perfect.

It was a nice story. Good for a fast read. It was a little bit rushed but that's normal for a novella.
