of course i have to consume every single little-women-adjacent piece of media and this modern adaptation(ish) of the text for middle grade audiences melted my heart. it distills the story to its essence and keeps a “good vibe” throughout by leaving out some major plot points and choosing to focus on jo coming out as gay. middle school lesbian jo writing her little blog is just sooo cute and sweet I would have been obsessed with this graphic novel as a kid

I feel like I usually reserve five stars for my very favorite books, which this isn't, but it made me so happy and was one of the cutest and sweetest things I've ever read. I wish I had had this book in middle school. Perfection. Jo March was a lesbian and you can't convince me otherwise.

Obviously I have to read all the Little Women adaptations and retellings out there! This graphic novel was fine but I don't think it's as good as Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy (the graphic novel that came out last year). Both versions include Jo's coming out as gay as major plot points, but I felt like this version didn't have quite as much depth. The other version included a lot more focus on the sisterhood of the four and I missed that in this version.
