I liked it. It is worth the read (or listen, like I did. Good narrators, added to my enjoyment of the book.)
This is about two people that are deeply wounded and use their trauma to murder people in a “Robin Hood” sort of way. Throughout the book they become engrossed with each other, leading to erotic descriptions of their attachment. Although the characters are killers, they are still relatable, expressing their vulnerabilities and wisecracking humor. It was fun and twisted.

I originally started reading a physical copy of this book sometime last year but I was only able to get through to chapter two, I believe. Personally, I wasn’t able to get into it because I grew up reading/writing Creepypasta fanfiction and the concept was super similar to what I’d read. Thus I associated the two and I couldn’t finish.

In late November, I started to get into audiobooks and by mid-December, I was looking for my third audiobook to listen to. My sister owned the audible for this book and let me listen to it. It took me a moment to get used to the voice actors (nothing against them, it was the same for the previous audiobooks I listened to and my current one as well).
I finished the audiobook today and my opinion on the book drastically changed. I highly enjoyed listening to it and the plot drew me in. I even was asking my sister if she owned the second book “Leather and Lark,” which is now on my TBR list (including the next book too).

Overall, I found the audiobook more enjoyable for me to get into the book. I was struggling to imagine the story in my head as I read (something I usually do); having the voice actors narrate the book allowed me to submerse myself into the story easier.
I highly recommend this book, especially for anyone who also read/wrote creepypasta fanfiction growing up.

Fun concept, nice spice, LOVED the voice actors in the audiobook. However,
where are the cops in this town? They keep leaving what I feel like is a HEAPING paper and DNA trail at all of their murders. Naming your restaurant BUTCHER AND BLACKBIRD is a crazy thing to do if you’re trying to avoid detection. Having sex at a murder scene is a huge pool of DNA I fear. I wish there was more description dedicated to how they clean the murder scenes up to avoid detection.
A bit less based in reality than Lights Out, but still fun and lots of banter. Time jumps irked me though as I felt it took away from time we could have been getting to know these characters separately. I still don’t know what Sloane does for work.

Was it fun? Yes. Was it super graphic? Yes. Did it (like it warned it would) ruin some of my favorite foods? Also, yes. Will I be reading any of the other books in the series? Maybe. But I think one might be enough for me.

“I would kill for you, and I have. I would do it again, every damn day. I’d turn myself inside out for you. I would die for you.”

This book is a bloody good time. A sexy, gorey love story between two serial killers? Count me in! In my journey to find my romance book niche, I seem to have once again hit gold - because this, this was right up my alley.

This rom-com really is the perfect mix of horror and comedy. It had me giggling, gasping, and cringing - often times in quick succession. Full of ridiculous, fun, and sometimes downright shocking events as Rowan and Sloane stumble and murder their way into each other’s hearts. The characters are hilariously ruthless, yet simultaneously cute. The romance perfect. And the kills the right amount of gruesome. This book was a lot of fun, in all its bloody, eye-plucking, gorey glory.
