so glad i borrowed this from the library before buying it because it was definitely not worth it 🥲 this was hugely hyped on booktok and i can’t understand why. i read most of it and just skipped through the last 5 or 6 chapters. i was so bored the whole time, i had a hard time rooting for these characters/their relationship and there was just no plot and too many spicy scenes that were there just because; like they didn’t add to the progression of the book at all. i should have dnfed it earlier on instead of wasting my time lol. will not be continuing this series.

This is NOT my usual genre, but I’m a Patreon for several artists and they did a picture of Sloan and Rowan and it got me interested.  I read the synopsis and thought “What the heck?”  

Well, I enjoyed this read much more than I thought I would.  I mean, I finished it in one day!!  Did I cringe? Yep.  Did I laugh out loud several times? Also yep.  Was this steamy AF?  You better believe it!!  And best of all, I loved the characters!  I was cheering them on the entire time — even when doing morally grey activities. 😆 

And if you haven’t listen to the audiobooks, you’re missing out! The narrators are fantastic and bring the characters to life.  It’s almost like a graphic audio book because the male and female narrators play off each other.

The smut is smutty, but the character development sucks.  It reads like a darker version of Twilight.  You can get pulled in by the uncomplicated plot and smut, but then if you try to ask yourself who the main characters really are, or why they are likable, you come up with nothing other then they are handsome/pretty and smutty.

Honestly pretty fun.  There were some things I wasn't a huge fan of but it was silly and campy in a good way, amidst all the blood and gore.

Where do I even start with this book…? 

I normally would have DNFed it, it was so bad. But it’s viral right now and I was hoping perhaps it would improve, plus I knew I wanted to write a review so I needed to get the whole story. 

This was the worst book I think I’ve ever read. In any category it falls under. Romance, horror, humor, whatever. It’s terribly written. The characters and narration are unrealistic and poorly fleshed out. The “horror” and gore are just there for shock value. The whole “We’re serial killers who kill serial killers” bit is just… so lame. It really could have been something, but it was SO lame. The romance was cheap and low effort was put into this supposed “slow burn” “enemies to lovers”. 

I’m worried about the quality of modern books, and this is a prime example of why. This feels like it was quickly pumped out and overhyped, and people deserve better quality books quite frankly.
