I really appreciated the author's thoughtfulness of putting a list of trigger warnings at the beginning of the book. I also felt personally attacked by the statement following those warnings:

For those of you who read the trigger warnings and said, "Accidental cannibalism?! Count me in!" This one's for you.

Excited to read Leather and Lark next! I bought it when I was about halfway thru B&B.

I think I would’ve enjoyed this way more of I had known less about it. I didn’t even read the synopsis before downloading but I’d heard it was really gory and dark and fucked up and it just read like a regular romance novel where some people happened to die/get murdered. I still liked it, it was just really tame and I had my hopes up but it was still pretty fun. I liked how obsessed Rowan was and there were a few bits that made me laugh

A thoroughly enjoyable read.

Sloane and Rowan definitely should have gotten caught numerous times but I have accepted the plot-armour as world lore.

In terms of writing, Butcher & Blackbird follows the trend of very fanfiction-esque writing styles that I've noticed many new contemporary authors have. Reading this was like reading good original work on AO3, which is not a good thing. I knew what the Third Act conflict was instantly, and although I found it a little cliche, it still worked out okay.

The last 200 pages is very sex-heavy so go into this with that in mind. There's also a lot of trigger-warnings (the way they were written reminds me of some AO3 authors' witty tagging, e.g. Not-So-Accidental Cannibalism).

I look forward to reading the next instalments in the trilogy, all of which MCs had pagetime in this book.

A lovely read for romance loving horror fans. There was a decent amount of gore and had some very spicy moments. The beginning was a little cringy but after you got past the first couple of chapters, the banter was amazing.

This book is so much fun. It has near perfect pacing between building sexual tension and embracing smut. The characters are extremely lovable and the banter is hilarious. The language surrounding the intimate scenes is a bit coarse for my taste, hence the -0.25, but the story tugs at your heart, makes you laugh, and has you falling in love with the most unlikely of characters.

Honestly pretty fun.  There were some things I wasn't a huge fan of but it was silly and campy in a good way, amidst all the blood and gore.

I found the storyline and plot very fun. Definitely unique and standouts from all the other dark-romance novels I've read!

I was hooked with the quirky and sarcastic banter and stayed for the all the rest!!

It seems like the author took notes from all the popular horror movies and found a way to weave them into her story... It was suspenseful and a little gruesome, but the tension and romance was top tier.
