When an OCD expert is found brutally stabbed in the street, Detective Liz Field and her team begin the investigation. But it quickly becomes apparent that it might be linked to a study the victim did 15 years ago involving teenagers with OCD. Before long a woman is found stabbed nearby with similar wounds and a link to the first victim. Can Field and her team find the killer before they strike again? Or will Field's own experiences with mental illness prevent her from seeing the bigger picture?

I really enjoyed this story, and with the author note at the end stating that she has OCD too, it is obviously talked about in a way to dispel myths and inform alongside the murder mystery.  It's not done in a way that makes you feel lectured to, but each OCD patient in the study has different symptoms and it's fascinating to see all the ways in which it presents. Field and her team have their issues as any real team would, and it's great to see a middle aged woman in charge in this one. The characters remind me of Jo Callaghan's team in Blink of an Eye, just minus the AI element!  Callum and Lily are two of the POV's we get alongside Field's and seeing how they deal with the murders as well as Callum's OCD around numbers was an interesting perspective. The final twist where the killer is finally revealed wasn't completely guessable, but the breadcrumbs were there along with a lot of red herrings to keep me guessing. I really hope this is the start of a series as Field and co deserve a follow up! It's a  fab debut novel.

Thank you Avon Books and NetGalley for this Arc copy of No Safe Place

The story is a multi POV thriller with police procedural elements following the deaths of people connected to a psychological study on OCD patients. It starts with the death of the psychologist who wrote the study and we see the story unfold from many characters perspectives. This book beautifully details various sorts of OCD and how some of the characters were and are affected by it. The twists and turns leave you thinking you know the killer but then switching things around again and again.

It is a thoughtful well written thriller that explores perhaps a lesser known facet of mental health as well as the sometimes troubling interpersonal relationships of sufferers and their loved ones.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting the opportunity to read this and welcome it's unique perspective within the thriller genre

Can't believe this was a debut! I found the writing flowed  incredibly well and it certainly keeps the reader wanting to read the next chapter...and the next...and the next!

I do love a Woman Detective and DCI Liz Field and her team have their work cut out with the investigation of two stabbing attacks. They have to find out whether these attacks are linked. What follows is a real page turner of events. I found the pacing of the book worked really well, especially with the short chapters and different POVs.

I listened to the audio book and the narrator was exceptional, really bringing emotion to Cam and Lilly in particular.

This book really deals with how people live with OCD. It's an illness that shouldn't be taken lightly, as it can literally take over one's life and those that are around you. It's an illness, that without the proper diagnosis and help from professionals can spiral someone into despair. It really opened my eyes, so thank you Hannah for highlighting this.

Look forward to reading more from Hannah in the future!

I really enjoyed this suspenseful police procedural. Lily and Callum are close to the crimes that are being committed and it leaves them even more vulnerable than they already are. Their codependency seems healthy and unhealthy at the same time. I think they work well together.

There are a few suspects with the final reveal showing our perpetrator and their motivations. I can understand why they felt there was something they needed to act on but their response/reaction was irrational; and ultimately leads to Field and her team having to work hard to track them down.

OCD is central to the plot with a number of characters having variations of the condition. There's a lot of misconceptions around OCD and as someone with that particular condition I did find it represented exceptionally well. The author also has OCD and I think that helps as she has a better understanding of it compared to people who've only heard of or researched it. It affects people in different ways and a number of the characters in this offer up some of the ways it can affect a person.
