Usually I prefer nonfiction in audiobook format but nothing in here would stick. Might pick this up in physical and try that who knows. Not too impressed by the 6 "essays" I read - a lot in the style of ~top ten habits of blablabla people~

This is a rare “self help” style book that really gives solid advice. It’s helpful to show other perspectives and really dive into your own emotional lens in which you view things. Highly recommend

Not what I was expecting. Not familiar with this author, but it was recommended as mind-blowing, so I had thought it that was going to be more philosophical and interesting. Didn't realize it was just self-help listicles. Stopped when the listicle of "things worth thinking about" included how great it's going to feel to lose the extra weight. Another part that had stuck in my craw was when she said emotionally intelligent people don't call an idea wrong just because they disagree with it, because they know the idea must exist because it's right for other people even if they themselves don't understand it. She didn't mention any caveats for Nazism etc. Personally I believe in not hating other people for believing in bad ideas, but that it *is* actually *important* to verbally identify bad ideas as bad and to fight them. Dr. Rev. MLK Jr.'s teachings and all that. He was an emotionally intelligent man.

There were some good ideas in this book as well, and I wish this author well. She just comes across as too unseasoned to be writing this kind of life advice more than anything.

Absolute drivel. The book claims to be essays but simply doesn’t understand what an essay is. Most of the “essays” are laundry lists of platitudes with no core or argument.

An essay has an argument that is clear and persuasively made. This book does not know that but just packages all the self help nonsense in a soulless package.

Perhaps reading further I might have found something good but after essay 16 I couldn’t go further. Did not finish.
