Not only is it an alphabet book featuring animals, but it has these luscious and amazing illustrations that you can pore over for hours. In addition, the author included a little "treasure hunt" in the book; each page has an illustration of the author for you to find. My son and I had so much fun trying to identify all the things that start with the featured letter. For example, on the D page, not only do you see dragons, there are also dauschunds, dolphins, a drill, a drawer, a dinosaur, dynamite, a decanter, donuts, dice, dolls, drinks, daggers, a dormouse, a dragonfly, a duck, a drum, diplomas, doves, dogs, a doctor, a double-decker bus, a dictionary, darts and more. The Little One and I hunch over the page together calling out what we found. Another thing I adore is the gorgeous lettering the author uses on each page. But perhaps the best way to share with you the beauty of this book is to see the illustrations in person. Highly recommended to share with a child in your life ... or just to read yourself!!

An excellent book, especially for children. The alliteration is great.

A great book with a huge imagination.

There’s no plot to be had here but there is detail beyond measure on every page and a glorious amount of alliteration.

An amazing, unique take on your standard alphabet book. Base has clearly put a lot of time and effort into creating each of the illustrations, and the intricate detail on display is phenomenal. One could spend hours studying every page to discover all of the images hidden inside! The X page is a bit of a cheat since none of the words included start with the letter X, but I give Base a pass since he goes above and beyond with V, of all letters. This is a very fun book that I will definitely enjoy revisiting with my son.

A brilliant book that uses the alphabet, alliteration, amazing artwork, and a fun little game of hide and seek that kept my kids and I reaching for it time and again. This really is a great book to own whether for the art, the learning, or both.

Another childhood favourite! More hidden objects that you could poke a hidden object at!! Several hours might be needed. I couldn't even start to find all the things beginning with the letter on the page but it is slightly easier to find the author hanging about amongst the alligators and zebra. ;)
