One look at the cover, and you’ll know if this is the right comic for you. As for me, once I saw a simply drawn image of a woman hugging an older lady under the title “Forget Me Not,” I was all in. Fortunately, the cover matches the contents perfectly. It’s a simple, understated, and touching graphic novel from Belgium about a grandmother who’s going senile and her granddaughter’s attempts to connect. As someone who also had a long five-year goodbye with a grandmother whose mind slipped away as her body stubbornly hung on, this really resonated. This is certainly more dramatized and more sentimental than the real-life ordeal of dealing with a relative with dementia, but it never slips into melodrama or excessive sentimentality. The story just quietly moves along, propelled by Alex Garin’s simple line and wonderfully chosen palette.

This is the kind of comic I wish we had more of in America, but in the meantime, thanks to Europe Comics for translating it and bringing it across the ocean to a country that is desperate for books like this.

Une BD vraiment très émouvante. J'ai beaucoup aimé les couleurs et les dessins sont simples et sympas.
J'ai pas été très convaincue par la fin mais il y a suffisamment de moments très chouettes pour que ça passe
